Yesterday,4 Oct, Loretta Lynn who was one of American country music’s biggest stars and a leading feminist in the genre, died on Tuesday at the age of 90, her family posted on Twitter.
Loretta’s rep said that the 90-year-old was in her home in Tennessee when she died because of natural causes. She was with her family members when she died, as well. Loretta was the wife of Oliver Lynn for nearly 50 years. His husband died in the year 1996. They were blessed with six children but only four were living when Loretta Lynn died.
Three years before she, Radar Online reported that Loretta’s health was failing and the country music biggest star was spending her final days in an assisted living facility in 2019. She needed either a walker or a wheelchair to get around, and her vision was “compromised.”
Her famous friends were given notice of her condition and made the trek to pay their respects and said their final farewells. Loretta Lynn had not gone on a long tour because her hip was broken in 2017.
With several health issues, Loretta released her 50th studio album, in March 2021. The name of the album was Still Woman Enough, which collaborates with many other country greats like Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Tanya Tucker, and Margo Price.
Loretta Lynn would write more than 160 songs, release over 70 albums, and sell more than 45 million records worldwide. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1988, the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999, and President Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.
Her son Jack Benny died at age of 34 in the year 1984 while attempting to ford a river near the family’s Tennessee ranch. Her daughter also died at the age of 64 in the year 2013.
