The Fault in Our Stars Overview

Hazel Grace Lancaster, living in the suburbs of Indianapolis, was suffering from thyroid cancer that has completely spread to her lungs. Believing she is depressed, her mother Frannie advised her to attend a weekly cancer patient support group. There Hazel found Augustus “Gus” Waters, who lost a leg to bone cancer but has since apparently been in remission.

Their bond becomes strong over their hobbies and they agree to read each other’s favorite books. Gus gives Hazel Counter Insurgence, while Hazel recommends An Imperial Affliction, a novel all about a cancer-stricken girl named Anna that suffered the same as her own experience but has an abrupt ending. They planned a trip where Gus confesses his love to Hazel and they both also come to know about the comeback of Gus Cancer after the treatment and sadly, in the end Gus dies and left Hazel with his love.
