Since the first series of the franchise received a lot of praise from the audience and received positive reviews from the critics the production company Nickelodeon, which is in charge of all things Avatar is planning to release three more animated films of the franchise in the future.

The first series of the franchise of Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender was created by  Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

Inspired by Japanese anime, DiMartino and Konietzko, the action-adventure series first aired in 2005 and ended in 2008. The series was centered on a young boy Aang and his friends – Katara, Sokka, and Toph.

In the world of Avatar four elements of life water, fire, earth, and air are differently controlled by a few people who are chosen for that.

And “Avatar” is the only one that can channel all four of the elements. Who saves the world with the help of his friends.

The spin-off of the series, The Legend of Korra aired from 2012 to 2014. The first live-action film adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender was released in 2010 called The Last Airbender.

Now over a decade after the release of the first film three new animated films are announced by Avatar Studios.

Creators of the original series DiMartino and Konietzko said in a statement in 2021 to EW: “With this new Avatar Studios venture we have an unparalleled opportunity to develop our franchise and its storytelling on a vast scale, in myriad exciting ways and mediums.”

According to Paramount and Nickelodeon, Three new animated Avatar films are in the works at Nickelodeon‘s Avatar Studios.
