Netflix’s interpretation of the oldest girl of mainstream society’s kookiest family. Tim Burton is in charge of the project, and he is known for his creepy but fun reimaginings of classic characters. After being sent to the enigmatic Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams finds herself at the center of a murder-mystery investigation in this new version of The Addams Family.
A supernatural mystery comedy about coming of age that focuses on Wednesday Addams and her time at Nevermore Academy, where she tries to master her psychic abilities, stop a monstrous killing spree of town residents, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago while navigating her new relationships.

Wednesday was initially announced as an unnamed Addams Family project directed by Burton in October 2020. MGM Television would produce the series, with Burton serving as director. Showrunners would be Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. While Burton, Gough, Millar, and Gail Berman, along with Jon Glickman and Andrew Mittman, would also serve as executive producers.
Netflix gave the production an eight-episode series order in February 2021. Kayla Alpert was added as an executive producer in August 2021, and the series was also produced by 1.21, the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation, and Glickmania. Danny Elfman was said to have joined the show in December 2021 to write the original theme and soundtrack.
