Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have unveiled the red band trailer for their House Party remake, marking the feature directorial debut of veteran music video helmer Calmatic, which Is slated for an exclusive release in theaters on January 13, 2023.
The original 1990 comedy House Party gaped as high schooler Christopher snuck out to his friend Peter’s house party, for a wild night of music and fun. The film was a surprise box office hit for New Line and is believed with helping launch hip-hop into the mainstream.
It also initiated the career of writer-director Reginald Hudlin, and those of actors Reid, Martin, Tisha Martin-Campbell, Martin Lawrence, A.J. Johnson, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, and Full Force.
In the revision, eager club abettor and best buds Damon and Kevin are barely keeping things together. Out of money, down on their luck, and about to lose the roofs over their heads — and freshly fired from their low-lift jobs as house cleaners — the pair needs a huge windfall to make their problems go away.
In a ‘what the hell?’ move, they decide to host the party of the year at an entire mansion, the site of their last cleaning job, which just appears to belong to none other than LeBron James. But also, one outrageous ride stacked with double-take cameos and timeless throwback tracks, R-rated comedy, and two friends worth ovation for… you have to see to believe. After all, a night like this doesn’t come around more than once.
The cursive for the new House Party film was written by Jamal Olori & Stephen Glover. Karen Obilom, D.C. Young Fly, and Scott Mescudi also star in the pic assembled by James and Maverick Carter of The SpringHill Company, which was exec assembled by Reginald Hudlin, Warrington Hudlin, Spencer Beighley, and Jamal Henderson.
