Jennifer Grey is returning in Dirty Dancing sequel

At Cinemacon in Las Vegas on Thursday it was announced that Jennifer Grey “returns to Kellerman’s in the next chapter” of Dirty Dancing.

35 years ago Jennifer Grey was featured as Frances “Baby” Houseman in Dirty Dancing opposite the late Patrick Swayze (who died in 2009 of pancreatic cancer at age 57). On Thursday at CinemaCon, during the Lionsgate’s presentation, the announcement was made Grey “returns to Kellerman’s in the next chapter.”

In Dirty Darling Kellerman’s was the Catskills resort where “Baby” and her family went for vacations where she met Patrick Swayze and ultimately fell in love with his dancing and Johnny Castle.

In Darling Grey was portrayed as Baby but her role in a sequel is a secret along with it the story plot is also wrapped up.

The thing Jennifer Grey spoke to People earlier: “All I can say is there is no replacing anyone who’s passed — you never try to repeat anything that’s magic like that,” she said at the time. “You just go for something different.”

About the original film, she said “It was about innocence and the way that innocence is lost and how people explode into a different iteration of themselves,”
