Universal Pictures and Nintendo released the first trailer for the upcoming The Super Mario Bros Movie at the New York Comic Con today. Stars Chris Pratt as the voice of the titular character. The movie is based on the Japanese video game franchise, which had a vibrant and active fanbase for forty years.
In The Super Mario Bros will see a full cast of voice actors bringing life to the world of Super Mario.
Pratt is joined by the vocal talents of Anya Taylor-Joy played the role of Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
Pratt’s casting has been under serious scrutiny, with several fans raising their concern that Pratt might do a dramatized Italian accent. Despite the pushback, Pratt came out to address that it is just a voice-acting role. He is not playing the role in live-action.
The Cast, Pratt as Mario raised a few hairs, considering that he was also cast to voice the lasagna-loving feline Garfield last year.
A few days back the makers released the first poster for the movie, which showed Toad welcoming Mario into a familiar world, much to the chagrin of the other toads who seemed shocked by Mario’s arrival, which left a lot of fans wondering when the film will be set.
‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ will release in theaters on April 7, 2023. Check out the trailer below:
