Until final season Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams thought Arya Stark was queer

Game of Thrones’s one of the most memorable scenes from the final season was Arya Stark making out with Gendry which got many negative reviews from critics.

One of the most popular Game of Thrones stars Maisie Williams was cast as Arya when she was 12 in 2009 which ended after eight seasons in 2019.

She said “The first time that I was surprised by Arya, I guess, was probably in the final [season] where she whips off her clothes and sleeps with Gendry,” Williams says. “I thought that Arya was queer, you know? So… yeah. That was a surprise.”

Rather than for love or romance, she made the decision to have sex with Gendry because at that point because she thought she would be killed in the Battle with White Walker.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Maisie Williams admitted she was “surprised” by Arya’s sex scene in Game of Thrones because she was convinced her character was queer.
