Tom Hanks, The Academy Award winner who has excelled in anything from “Forrest Gump” to “Elvis” declared his new novel, “The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece,” out May 9, 2023.
The book is a fictional story about the accomplishing of a multi-million dollar crusader film and the comic book formation that influenced it. I have made a ton of movies (and four of them are pretty good, I think) and I am still amazed at how films come together. In the era of multiple consequences, reboots, and requels, Hanks added that there is no “accountability” to duplicate his famed role of Forrest after the 1994 original movie, during which he also paid out of pocket for select scenes like Forrest’s archetypal run across America.
A smart thing I did is I’ve never signed a contract that had a contractual obligation to a consequence, Hanks said. I have always said, ‘Guys, if there’s a reason to do it, let’s do it. But you guys can’t force me.’ There is that natural leaning that is one of pure business that says, Hey, you just had a hit, so do it anew, and you will have a hit.
