Woman of the Dead Summary

The Woman of the Dead, the first book in a trilogy, is an unforgettable thriller about a passionate woman who will go for vengeance and tug-of-war between the good and the evil in all of us. Written with a vivid, tense, and menacing narrative, the novel introduces Bernhard Eicher as a rising star in crime fiction.

In this story, it turns out that for the past eight years, Blum has had a good life—a life that reveals terrible secrets from his past. She is a successful entrepreneur, a loving mother, and the wife of a respected police officer.

Woman of the Dead Review

A dark and disturbing tale of vengeance and violence, Woman of the Dead is the first novel by Bernhard Aichner to feature Blum, the mother, the mortician, and the murderer.

Purely by chance, this was the second German novel I read in a row. The other is Arango’s The Truth and Other Lies. Both have been very strong.

It’s a story of revenge, and with a woman involved, makes me think of the Kill Bill movies. Although it is an equal story if not better. The backdrop of the funeral parlor enhances the ‘noir’. There’s a lot of black stuff out there at the moment, but I highly recommend it.
